What to expect for Young Ian in Outlander Season 7B based on the books
There are some big storylines to come in Outlander Season 7B. Young Ian is sure to get some of them based on the storylines in the books.
We know that Outlander Season 7B will cover a little more of An Echo in the Bone and will go into Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. The eighth book has already been used in Roger and Bree’s storyline, but it’s almost time for it to be used in the 18th century storyline.
Yes, we are looking at book spoilers for this post. If you want to avoid them, you need to click away! Let’s see what happens to Young Ian and what we could see in Outlander Season 7B.
Young Ian returns to America in Outlander Season 7B
One thing we know that will happen in the next set of episodes is Young Ian will get back to America. Right now, he is back in Scotland. That isn’t his home, though. He’s back to see his parents, carrying out Jamie’s promise to Jenny when Ian was taken by Geillis’s men and almost killed.
He’ll get back with Claire, who goes back to save Henri-Christian. He does get a chance to say goodbye to his father first, who is dying to consumption, and he gets back to find Rachel and Rollo.
It starts Young Ian’s real love story with Rachel Hunter. This, of course, brings problems.
Arch Bug comes for his revenge in Outlander
We saw Arch Bug at the end of Outlander Season 7A. He noticed Rollo but didn’t see Ian. Instead, he saw that Rollo had been left in the car of Rachel Hunter. He knows what this means. Young Ian trusts Rachel enough to look after Rollo, which means he loves her.
This is time for Arch to come for revenge, and he will attempt to take Rachel’s life. Usually, we would see Young Ian fight back, but Rachel encourages Young Ian to change his violent ways. After all, she’s a pacifist. Young Ian wants to honor Rachel’s wishes.
It’s William who comes to the rescue, killing Arch Bug. So that deals with that problem.
Young Ian mourns the loss of his mother
We can see in the trailer for Outlander Season 7B that Young Ian places a rock on a tower. It’s a memorial, and this is one for his mother and Jamie. The two are believed killed at sea as they head over to America.
Fortunately, the two don’t die. That doesn’t stop the grief, though. Young Ian is reunited with his mother again, allowing Rachel a chance to meet her.
Young Ian and Rachel Hunter get married, and they have a baby of their own. They also go through the loss of Rollo of old age. It’s hard to say if all of this will play out in Outlander Season 7B. It is a lot to fit in and some of these storylines could work for the final season, especially Rachel and Ian welcoming in their baby.
I suspect that we’ll definitely get Arch attempting to kill Rachel and we’ll likely end up with the wedding of the season. That’s the way things could end for the two of them for now to save some storylines for them in Outlander Season 8.
Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
