Enjoy the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale by knowing Season 3 is confirmed

When we go into the finale of any show, we can be a little worried. What if there’s a cliffhanger and no resolution? It happens way too much, and it’s not something we like the idea of when it comes to House of the Dragon.

It’s clear that there is sure to be some sort of cliffhanger. The Dance of the Dragons is nowhere near over, with the sowing of the dragonseeds only just taking place. The good news is you can relax as you go into the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale. At least, in the sense that any cliffhangers will be resolved!

Of course, it’s a finale. There will be deaths, and there will be tension. So, you won’t be able to relax the whole way through. You will be able to relax enough knowing that there will be answers.

House of the Dragon Season 3 is officially happening

It wasn’t surprising to see that HBO renewed House of the Dragon for Season 3 ahead of the Season 2 finale. The Game of Thrones franchise is popular. The original show itself was an anomaly in the TV landscape. Each season gained in viewership rather than losing it the way that most shows work.

Even with the failings of the final season (and more specifically, the series finale), the franchise is one that people tune into. It helps that the books are so vast to get people intrigued, and the budget is there to make sure the dragons look amazing.

HBO knew that there was more to the story to tell. It couldn’t leave things off with the season 2 finale. So, we went into this season knowing that there would be more.

There will be a wait for House of the Dragon’s return

Of course, we won’t get House of the Dragon Season 3 right away. We will have to wait, and there is a chance that we have a fairly long wait.

House of the Dragon Season 1 aired in 2022. We’ve had to wait until 2024 for the second season. This wasn’t a show that was affected by the strike action, either, so it’s due to the lengthy production and post-production needs that the season took so long. With that in mind, we’re looking at summer 2026 for House of the Dragon Season 3 to come out.

At least we know it's happening.
