Will Benjamin Grey be in Outlander Season 8?

Benjamin Grey is the son of Hal Grey in the Outlander books. Is his storyline important enough to be in Outlander Season 8?

In Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, Claire learns that Lord John Grey’s nephew, Benjamin, has died. That starts a bigger storyline for John, William, and Hal. Will Benjamin be included in Outlander Season 8?

It’s hard to say which storylines from Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone will be included in the final season of the series. It’s going to be impossible to add them all in. After all, any that are added in will need to be closed off as the ninth book leaves a lot of storylines open.

Ben’s story seems important for some characters, but not all of those characters have had big roles in the Outlander series so far. The one who has may not need him to continue his tale. Yes, we’re talking about William.

Why Ben probably won’t be in Outlander Season 8

There is a lot to fit into the 10-episode final season. We’ll see to see Claire and Jamie’s storyline completed. Then there are Bree, Roger, Young Ian, Rachel, William, and so many more. It’s going to be impossible to include everything for everyone.

Benjamin Grey is connected more to John and Hal than he is to William. William’s storyline with Amaranthus, Ben’s wife, could be told without ever actually seeing Benjamin. The show could have Amaranthus tell William the truth about what happened to Ben, or that part of the storyline could just be explained in another way.

If the show did want to include him, it would likely only be for an episode. He’s only needed to explain that Amaranthus is definitely his wife and to learn that he’s a turncoat and why he faked his death. Do we really need more than that?

He is also involved in Denny and Dottie’s storyline, but Dottie isn’t in Outlander Season 7. Maril Davis says that there wasn’t enough time to include her, so it would be strange to suddenly throw her in. Not that the show hasn’t had to just add characters in before, but there are other workarounds with this one.

I don’t think we’ll see Hal again. And I don’t think John will get a huge role outside of him marrying Claire when they both believe Jamie is dead. So, I don’t think we’ll need a lot of the other Grey storylines so much.

This is a personal thought on how Outlander Season 8 will need to condense multiple storylines. I’m looking forward to seeing any casting announcements for the final season the closer we get.
