When it comes to British historical dramas, Call the Midwife is one of the standouts. It’s one of those shows that we’ve come to rely on for both emotional and accurate storytelling when it comes to women and pregnancy in the past.
Call the Midwife season 14 aired its finale back in May on PBS, but we went into the season knowing that there would be more to come. Season 15 had already been confirmed, and since then, we’ve had the great news that season 16 is happening. So, eyes are now on when Call the Midwife season 15 will premiere, and we have some exciting news.

Call the Midwife season 15 arrives just when expected
Of course, the 2025 Christmas specials are the first to arrive. They’ll arrive over the Christmas period, with the episodes set in both Poplar and Hong Kong, as some of the midwives are on the road for a bit of it.
There are two 60-minute episodes this year, with the first airing on Christmas Day and then the second airing the day after (known as Boxing Day in the UK, Canada, and other parts of the world).
Then there will be another short break, as is tradition. We’ll get Call the Midwife season 15 on PBS starting Sunday, March 22, with it airing at 8/7c as usual.
If you have PBS Passport, there’s even better news. You can watch episodes a month in advance with the platform, so you’ll be able to start watching episodes from Friday, Feb. 20, and episodes will air weekly as they do on the channel. Once they air on PBS, they are removed from PBS Passport, but you can watch on PBS Masterpiece.

What to expect on Call the Midwife season 15
We’re now into the 1970s in Poplar, with season 15 kicking off the year 1971. It’s time for many of the ladies to embrace the Women’s Lib, which means burning their bras outside of Nonnatus House. Oh, how are the nuns doing to take that?
Of course, there are the medical storylines that focus on topics from the day. We’ll get some challenging cases, which include premature birth and TB. What may be surprising is that one of the topics will include slavery, which should be outlawed at the time. This is sure to be a heavy episode when it comes up.
If you need to catch up before then, you can turn to Netflix. All 14 seasons so far are available to stream there.
Call the Midwife season 15 will premiere on Sunday, March 22 at 8/7c on PBS.
