Call the Midwife has come to the end of another season, and what a spectacular way the season ended. We had births, weddings, and much more. On top of that, the certainty of Nonnatus House is back in question, which naturally leads to questions about the future of the series.

Well, we have some exciting news about the future of this show. Call the Midwife season 15 is definitely happening, and that’s not all! On top of this, we have an idea of when we could potentially get to see the new episodes arrive, but it will mean a long wait.

Call the Midwife season 15 and season 16 are happening

TV Insider shared some excellent news about the future of the show. Not only do we have a confirmed season 15, but we’ll also get Call the Midwife season 16. The latest renewal happened just this month, making it clear that the show isn’t finished just yet. That offers hope that Nonnatus House will get to continue.

There is also a growing franchise, as we’ll get a prequel series and a movie set in 1972. There is little know about the movie just yet, but that is going to be set outside of Poplar. Meanwhile, the prequel seemed to be hinted at in Call the Midwife season 14. Sister Monica Joan and Sister Julienne both thought back about their time in World War II, so it only makes sense that we get a prequel series set back then. What was it like delivering babies in the middle of a war?

When will Call the Midwife season 15 premiere?

The British networks get the episodes before we do, which makes sense. This is a British series, after all. It’s only like when we get our shows before the UK! It’s annoying, but fortunately, the wait for this series usually isn’t that long.

Call the Midwife season 15 could potentially arrive next spring, probably around the end of March or early April. That would assume that the UK will get the episodes in January or February, as they usually do.

There is also a Christmas special to come, which will arrive in December 2025. This is a two-part special, which takes place in both Poplar and Hong Kong. Some of the midwives and nuns are on a trip!

Call the Midwife is available to stream on Netflix and PBS Masterpiece.
