As we inch closer to the Outlander season 8 premiere date, there are plenty of teases happening. In the run-up to Christmas, the Outlander socials dropped behind-the-scenes photos, stills of the final season, and teases of what’s to come.

The Outlander stars, along with showrunner Matt. B Roberts and EP Maril Davis, talked about the things to come in the final season. This is certainly a bittersweet moment, but we’re excited to see how the story comes to an end.

Expect a united Fergus and Marsali on Outlander season 8

Something to look forward to is the return of Fergus and Marsali. While we keep focusing on the devastation that this will bring here at claireandjamie.com, there are also some positives. We’ll get to see where this branch of the Fraser family are now, as we know that we’ll see the family gathered around the table.

Cesar Domboy, who plays Fergus, teased that we’ll get to see Fergus and Marsali more united than ever. The two have certainly had their highs and lows, with Outlander season 6 being their lowest point as Fergus struggled with learning his younger son has dwarfism and tried to figure out what he could do to provide for the family while on the Ridge.

It led to him finding his passion in printing again, and that led to Fergus and Marsali moving the children to Wilmington, which is likely where we’ll find them again with their print shop. While we will have devastation, we’ll also get some happy moments, and hopefully, something to look forward to in the future.

The Revolutionary War is coming to the backcountry

One thing that the tease of Outlander season 8 brings is the threat of war. We know that it’s coming to the backcountry, and Jamie Fraser has a chance to read what is going to happen to him. It’s not good news, as Frank Randall writes that “James Fraser dies in [the war].”

This is sure to be something that hangs over the heads of everyone, as they figure out a way to change this part of history. Could having this knowledge help, or is history going to play out the way that it is written?

Claire will be a sounding board for Jamie, taking us back to what made the two so special in the first two seasons. When there was the focus on the Jacobite Rebellion, we got to see Claire and Jamie figure out their issues together, and that is certainly something to look forward to.

But as Sophie Skelton says in the tease, this is going to be bittersweet. We know that Outlander season 8 is the end, and while it means an epic conclusion, it means no more of this epic love story.

Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
