As we inch closer to the beginning of Outlander season 8, we have more treats from the production. Some of the latest elements of the 12 Days of Christmas from the team has been new stills for the final season.
There are some beautiful images of Claire and Jamie together. We get a look at Young Ian and Rachel, who seem happy in their new world, and there are a couple of shots of Brianna and Roger. However, it’s a particular image that stands out as one that has us concerned.
As we’ve already mentioned at claireandjamie.com, we’re getting ready for a devastating death. However, there was hope that it wouldn’t happen, as there were rumors that casting couldn’t find a particular set of twins. Well, the images have squashed that rumor.
We see Fergus and Marsali’s family in the Outlander season 8 stills
The one image that stands out the most is that of Fergus and Marsali sitting at a table with Claire, Jamie, Fanny, and all four of their children. Two of those children are his daughters, and then you can just about see Germain in between one of the girls and Fergus. The fourth is sitting between Claire and Jamie, and it’s young Henri-Christian, which means the casting department did find a set of twins with dwarfism.
The only reason we hoped that the rumors were right was that it would mean a certain devastating storyline wouldn’t happen. Or maybe if it did happen, it wouldn’t have the same impact. Now we get to know Henri-Christian before he potentially — and highly likely — falls to his death.
The teaser trailer has made it clear that this is a likely story from the books to happen, as we've mentioned at claireandjamie.com. We see the fire that is likely at the printshop, and we’re all getting ready for the devastation.
Could it lead to Fergus and Marsali returning to the Ridge?
In the Outlander books, Marsali and Fergus move to Savannah temporarily and then to Wilmington to continue their printing business. Only young Germain moves to Fraser’s Ridge for a time with his grandparents. However, is it possible that the TV series will bring some sort of change to this story?
It was only in Outlander season 6 that Fergus and Marsali moved from the Ridge to start the business. While Marsali didn’t really need to move, Fergus did, and she would support him in any way. However, there’s a behind-the-scenes shot that suggests that Marsali could move back to the Ridge. It certainly looks like that is where she is.
Of course, she could just be visiting, but it’s expensive running these productions and bringing in former cast members. Is it really going to be just for one or two episodes with such a major storyline in the final season? I doubt it!
