Throughout the weekend, Outlander fans have certainly been talking about season 8. The premiere date seemed to be announced, only for publications to take their content down.
Deadline was the first to announce the premiere date for Outlander season 8, only to remove the post just hours later. It seemed that either someone had leaked the date or it had been released early by accident.
It’s not unusual for STARZ to do this with the hit series. I’m starting to wonder if it’s done on purpose to keep people talking. Back when it came to the release date of Outlander season 4, there was an accidental release of the November premiere date. Then Sam Heughan shared February for Outlander season 6 (only for it to end up being a little later in March).

Outlander season 8 is officially coming in March 2026
Well, STARZ has now released a press release to confirm that Outlander season 8 will premiere on Friday, March 6. And if you’ve followed me in a couple of Outlander groups, especially in the Sasnak City Facebook groups, you’ll know it was one of two dates I predicted (I said either Feb. 13 or March 6).
There is some beautiful key art released with the date. Yes, this is the same key art that was spotted in the various publications, making it clear that something had happened on Friday accidentally.
There are just 10 episodes to tell the conclusion of the epic time travel romance series. With the premiere date, we can work out that we’re probably looking at the series finale to air on Friday, May 22. After all, there’s usually a week break at some point in the season — and we’re expecting it the week before the series finale.

What to expect in Outlander season 8
There is still a lot of discussion about Outlander season 8, especially after the events of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. However, the eighth season is going to be partly based on Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. As that novel left a lot of storylines on a cliffhanger, the season will need to wrap them up.
We left Brianna, Roger, and their children in 1739, but we’re sure to see them join the Frasers in the 1770s once more. After all, it’s not exactly safe in the 1980s.
On top of that, we’ll find out more about Fanny and her mom, Faith. Claire was left reeling from hearing Fanny sing a song that only a time traveler would know, leading to her believing that Fanny’s Faith may be Claire and Jamie’s Faith, but is that even possible?
Outlander season 8 will premiere on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
