We’re closing in on the end of Outlander season 8. In just two months, the final season will premiere, and while we are excited to see how it concludes, we’re sad that it is going to be the end.

Outlander season 8 officially premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ. This is a weekly released show, and we’re used to having a week off usually just before the season finale, and we’re expecting the same to happen here. It means we’ll get the end around the middle of May, and that will be it. It’s all back over to the books to see how that story ends.

Outlander season 8 teases death, struggles, and the Revolutionary War

While there are sure to be a lot of positives to look forward to, Outlander season 8 teases deaths and struggles. We know from Written in My Own Heart’s Blood that a heartbreaking death is likely to happen, and there are hints all over that it’s to come, as we’ve mentioned multiple times at claireandjamie.com. Then there are images, such as the one of Brianna and Roger above, that highlight potential struggles as they deal with the lows of the Revolutionary War.

The biggest fear is that Jamie Fraser will die. Frank writes it in his book, and there’s no reason not to believe him. He was a renowned historian, and he wouldn’t let his personal feelings about the man cause him to put something categorically untrue in a textbook, which means the evidence is somewhere out there.

The Revolutionary War is coming to the backcountry, and the people of Fraser’s Ridge will need to choose a side. Not everyone will want to fight for independence, with many on the Ridge still on the side of the British. What does that mean for Jamie as he tries to lead his people? We’ll need to see how he deals with such a thing.

Outlander season 8 also teases more of William

While there has been a lot of focus on Claire, Jamie, Brianna, Roger, and Young Ian over the seasons, Outlander season 7 brought us more of William, and it looks like we’ll get much more on Outlander season 8. He has now learned that he is Jamie Fraser’s son, and he’s struggling to deal with that information. It’s understandable considering what it means for him as an earl and as a man — while many would love to be the son of Jamie Fraser, William grew up believing his father was a man with a title and that his birth was legitimate.

There is a moment in the Outlander season 8 teaser that shows William and Jamie fighting together. They are dressed in civilian clothing, and we can’t help but wonder if this is going to link to the end of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, which sees William turning to Jamie for help, because he knows that Jamie is the only person who can help.

Then there’s the image of William and Amaranthus. While in the books she is a questionable character, Outlander season 8 doesn’t have the time to deliver the whole story. Will she turn into a positive romantic relationship for him, helping him deal with the loss of Jane?

Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
