There is some bad news for Sassenachs. Outlander is heading on a short break. The good news is we know when the series will return.
Outlander fans should be used to this. Every season has had a break happen. The first season did only have the break at the midseason point, but every other season has taken a week off at some point. While seasons 3 and 5 opted for a break at around the mid-point, other seasons have taken a week off ahead of the finale episode.
That’s the case here. STARZ has opted for a break just after the penultimate episode of the season. Just how long is this break going to be?
When will Outlander season 7, episode 16 air on STARZ?
The good news is that the break isn’t too long. As has become normal, STARZ is opting for a one-week break. That means Outlander season 7, episode 16 will air on Friday, Jan. 17.
This is the same night as The Couple Next Door premieres on STARZ. It’s clear that the premiere for the latest Sam Heughan series was strategic, and we at Claire and Jamie did think of this as the premiere date was announced. It makes sense for STARZ to kick off a new show off the back of an already popular one. It’s not the first time Outlander has been used to get people to watch a new series.
At the end of season 7A, Men in Kilts season 2 began. Now STARZ is offering another Sam Heughan series, which is sure to already have viewers tuning in.
What to expect in the Outlander season 7 finale
The bad news is that this week off will be followed by just one more episode. The Jan. 17 episode is the Outlander season 7 finale. That means we head into one last Droughtlander, as season 8 is confirmed as the final season.
The promo for the episode is out, and it leaves us worried for one particular character. Claire’s life was put on the line at the end of the previous episode, leaving us with a major cliffhanger as we go into this short break. The promo shows Jamie by her side after her surgery. For now, she’s alive, but will she make it through the recovery?
We also see William taking Frances to what seems to be the church. Is he unable to save Jane? Could he realize that Claire and Jamie are the best people to care for Frances? What if Claire doesn’t make it out alive, though?
