The first two episodes of Outlander: Blood of My Blood introduced us to the characters and set the tone for the series. Now it’s time to really get into the drama, especially for the MacKenzie family. The images for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 3 are out, and they give us an idea of what to expect.
The trailer has already told us that there’s a lot of focus on the MacKenzie family in this episode. It does look like the series is going to alternate between the two love stories. While other elements of each other’s stories will come up, Brian learning about Ellen marrying Malcolm and Ellen figuring out how to handle her brothers appear to be the bigger parts of the new episode.
Ellen faces Colum in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 3
We’re splitting the images for Blood of My Blood episode 3 up in sections, as they focus on different characters. To start, we have some images of Ellen confronting her brother, Colum. You can see the image at the top of this article with her in the laird’s office space. Colum isn’t even laird yet, and he’s already making use of his father’s former private space.
We have another image of her confronting him outside. This is sure to be to point out that Colum and Dougal need to find a way to work together. Right now, they are dividing the family for their own gains.
We will also get more flashbacks of Red Jacob, which makes sense. Peter Mullan is such a powerful force on screen, and we need to see more of how he drove Colum and Dougal to fight against each other for the lairdship. After all, it really is on him that all of this is happening.
It’s clear a Gathering is happening, as Malcolm is at Castle Leoch with Henry again. Is this the point the MacKenzies figure out how to manage the lairdship with both brothers somewhat in charge?
Brian and Murtagh tell Simon about the funeral events
During the first two episodes, Murtagh and Brian went to Castle Leoch. They were there to partially give their condolences, but they were mostly there to spy. Especially Brian, who the MacKenzies didn’t know.
Well, it’s time for them to report back. Of course, Ellen’s marriage contract to Malcolm is sure to come up. We know from the Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 3 trailer that Murtagh isn’t happy with it, but how will Simon react to the news? After all, two clans against him is going to be a risk.
Davina confronts Julia in Blood of My Blood episode 3
Then there are the photos of Julia, and in one of them, she’s with Davina. In the trailer, Davina asks Julia if she has anything to confess. Are the images a continuation of that storyline? Will Davina tell Julia the risks of being pregnant at Castle Leathers? Or will Davina finally find a way to help Julia escape this nightmare?
Of course, Julia doesn’t really know where she’ll go. While she’ll know that something happened at the stones, she won’t know exactly what. At the same time, she has no idea that Henry followed her through, so she doesn’t know that he’s looking for her while she’s trying to get back to him.
