As soon as we learned that Julia and Henry could time travel in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, new theories about how Outlander season 8 could play out came up. The second episode of the prequel has made it clear the new theories are plausible.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 2.

While the first episode was mostly about Ellen and Brian, Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 2 told us what happened to Julia and Henry as they both went through the stones. We learned why they time traveled separately, and how they ended up being separated in the same time period.

Julia’s story is a harrowing one, as she ends up kidnapped and sold into slavery. She’s not alone, though, and her storyline tells us how the Faith storyline in Outlander season 7 and the upcoming season 8 is possible.

Julia is pregnant in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 2

Julia made a mention of raspberry leaves helping women in childbirth in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood series premiere, and we learn there’s an important reason she’s thinking of that. She is currently pregnant, and this makes her current situation even scarier.

Her body is going through a lot of stress, and all she can do is hope that she can keep this unborn child healthy. Henry doesn’t seem to know that Julia is expecting their second child, either, and it’s clear that this pregnancy is still early days. It’s only a matter of time before Mrs. Porter realizes that there is something happening.

Julia’s child could end up being Faith in Outlander

We already theorized that Julia and Henry time traveling could lead to a solution to the Faith storyline in Outlander season 7. Rather than Master Raymond apologizing for secretly bringing Faith Fraser to life, there is the possibility that Julia and Henry have a Faith of their own. Alternatively, they could have a child of their own who then has Faith, which would make Fanny and Jane’s mother Claire’s niece.

Faith being Claire’s niece rather than her stillborn daughter brought back from the dead is certainly more realistic. Of course, this is a show that involves time travel, so we can suspend out beliefs when it comes to the ability to bring someone back to life. However, it’s something that we couldn’t forgive Master Raymond doing, and it does seem like a crazy plot point for the series.

Instead, learning that Julia and Henry had another child who was raised in the past makes a lot more sense. There is this sense of “what if” as Claire would have been in the same time period when her sister or brother was there. She could have met her niece, Faith, and she could have had a chance to get to know her great-nieces.

This would also help Claire learn the truth about her parents. They never died in the car accident, and instead, they traveled through the stones, and there would have been a possibility of meeting them had she known. In a way, it’s a bittersweet revelation, but it’s one that makes the most sense and allows Claire to really connect with Fanny, learning that they are biologically connected.
