We ended the previous episode of Outlander: Blood of My Blood with a major cliffhanger, and there’s no doubt that you need more. Well, we have a lot of bad news right now.
There’s no need to get ready for a new episode of the Outlander prequel series tonight, Friday, Oct. 17, as there isn’t going to be an episode that airs. And no, this isn’t one of STARZ’s annoying breaks.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 has come to an end
To start the bad news, the previous episode was the season 1 finale. There isn’t going to be another episode of Outlander: Blood of My Blood for some time, and so, we’re left with that major cliffhanger to deal with.
There are plenty of questions to come from the cliffhanger. Henry pushed Julia and William toward the stones, but it’s not clear if any of them can even pass through. After all, they didn’t know they needed gems to get through the stones, and there’s no guarantee that William can travel.
Then there’s Brian and Ellen’s story, as the two won’t be able to just hide out for a while. The fiery crosses have been lit, and everyone is being called to fight for the Jacobites. That includes Brian, and he’ll need to head back to his father with news of what’s happened with the MacKenzies.
Those are just the stories with the main two couples. There’s plenty more to come, and at least we know Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is going to happen, but it’s going to take time to get here.
When could Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 premiere?
We’re not expecting any new episodes of the Outlander prequel in 2025 at all. And we’re not really expecting new episodes in 2026, either. Here at claireandjamie.com, we’re looking at 2027 as the release year.
After all, we know Outlander season 8 will arrive in early 2026. It doesn’t make sense for STARZ, as a business, to release shows from the same franchise in the same year. Spreading out the episodes will mean spreading out the subscriptions.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is currently in production, which can take a few months. Then the post-production period takes about as long as the production period, if not a little longer. There’s a ton of work that goes into period dramas, and we have no idea which time periods we’ll see the story in from this point. So, we’re sticking with an early 2027 release date for season 2, and we’ll hope for earlier.
