We’ve reached the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, and there’s no doubt you’re ready for more. The season finale ended with a major cliffhanger for Julia and Henry, especially. Meanwhile, Brian and Ellen don’t quite get the romantic escape that they dreamed of.
The thing with cliffhangers is you have to hope that there is another season to continue the story. I don’t think Outlander: Blood of My Blood ever had to worry about anything, but it was great to know that there would be a second season ahead of the first season even premiering.
Now it comes to the bad news, as we will likely have a long wait to Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Welcome to another Droughtlander!
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 won’t arrive in 2025
There is one thing that we can tell you for certain. We won’t see Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 in 2025. STARZ doesn’t even have to warn us of this, as it’s clear with the production timeline.
The second season started production in summer 2025. It takes months to film the entire season, and then there is the post-production afterward. In fact, it can take more than a year to get through the entire process because of how much work the post-production process takes.
So, we know that a 2025 release date isn’t possible. Plus, it’s not like STARZ would release the second season so soon, even if it was available. That doesn’t make business sense.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is likely to arrive in early 2027
I’m going to say that early 2027 is when the prequel series will return. There are a few reasons for this, and one is to make sure there’s enough time to get through the production and post-production process.
It took about six months for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 to film, between January 2024 and July 2024. Some of that was due to storms temporarily halting production, but it is also about the right amount of time for a 10-episode season. We didn’t get the season until August 2025, although there is a chance that it was ready a little sooner, but premiering the series so close to the anniversary of Outlander season 1 made a lot of sense for STARZ.

So, with that in mind, we’re probably looking at around a year after the production of season 2 ends. If Blood of My Blood season 2 wraps production in December 2025, then we could be looking at January or February 2027 as a premiere date!
On top of that, Outlander season 8 will premiere in early 2026. STARZ will want to have an Outlander show a year to keep the subscribers. I know we hate it, but it does make business sense.
The earliest I could potentially see the season arriving is November or December 2026 to push the latter half of the season into January 2027, but I’m getting ready for a 2027 premiere date.
