It’s always a worrying thing going into a new show. You have no idea if there’s going to be a major cliffhanger with no resolution due to the show being canceled. Well, Outlander: Blood of My Blood fans don’t need to worry about this at all.
STARZ has renewed Outlander: Blood of My Blood for a second season ahead of the series premiere. It shows just how much faith the network has for the Outlander prequel, and it allows us to go into the series with no cancellation concerns.

Droughtlander should be kept to a minimum for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2
The renewal isn’t the only great news. After all, a renewal is great, as long as there isn’t a long wait for the next season. Well, Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 will begin production on Monday, June 30, according to The Wrap. Yes, that early!
This is excellent news for those who are going to be impatiently waiting for the next part of the story. Let’s assume that it will take a year to get through production and post-production, it could mean that season 2 arrives in summer 2026. The end of 2026 is extremely realistic, based on previous seasons.
Of course, this doesn’t mean STARZ will want to release the episodes in 2026. I suspect Outlander season 8 will premiere in early 2026, and that could mean waiting until the beginning of 2027 for the prequel’s sophomore year. I hope that isn’t the plan, though!

There is more to come after the wedding in the Outlander prequel
With the title “Something Borrowed” for the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 finale, it would suggest that there is a wedding taking place. It doesn’t mean two weddings, and of course, we could just see the initial plans for a wedding. It means that there is much more to the love story after a wedding, though, which we know from the love story of Claire and Jamie in the OG series.
For Ellen and Brian, there’s sure to be the fallout. Based on the stories that Murtagh and Jamie have told, we know Ellen and Brian married in secret and then waited until Ellen was visibly pregnant to return so that their wedding couldn’t be annulled. The second season could showcase that life for them at first, as they figured out how to stay out of the public eye when the MacKenzies were sure to hunt Ellen down.
As for Henry and Julia, we’d have some time with baby Claire to see how their lives were like. We could also get a look at how the war changed Henry, as so many soldiers came back from the trenches with shell shock (now known as PTSD).
At least there is time for all this with Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 confirmed.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Friday, Aug. 8 on STARZ.
