Eliza Scarlet faced heartbreak as the fifth season began, but by the end of it, it looked like she found love again. Well, the Miss Scarlet season 6 trailer hints that that is not the case after all.
The new season premieres extremely soon. For those with PBS Passport, the first episode has already dropped, with more to come weekly. For those who watch on PBS, the episodes will arrive in January, as we previously reported. Either way, we can’t wait for all the drama to play out!
Are Miss Scarlet and Inspector Blake on a break on Miss Scarlet season 6?
The Miss Scarlet season 6 trailer opens with a question for Eliza about how things are going with Blake. The work for the agency is drying up, and while they’re not in desperate need right now they are on the verge of struggling financially. Most of Eliza’s work came from Scotland Yard when The Duke was in charge, but Blake made it clear he didn’t want to work with private investigators when he took over.
We had hoped that things would change by Miss Scarlet season 6. After all, Eliza had proven that she was trustworthy and focused on the job, and not the money, while she and Blake also seemed to start something personal. We ended season 5 with hope for the future, but the season 6 trailer doesn’t suggest that.
This could just be that Blake wants to separate the personal from the professional. Eliza would want that too, but she wouldn’t want her professional business being affected because of personal entanglements.
Moses Valentine is back on Miss Scarlet
We haven’t seen Moses Valentine since Miss Scarlet and the Duke season 3, but he is back for the latest season. This time, he needs Eliza’s help. Could it be that his past in Jamaica has caught up to him? We don’t exactly know what happened there, but he was forced to leave due to some criminals.
Alternatively, Valentine could be in trouble with local criminals. He turned into a good debt collector for Eliza at first, but he wasn’t afraid to take some rather illegal steps to get the job done. All it would take is messing with the wrong person, and he could end up needing Eliza’s help to protect himself — and maybe even prove that he hasn’t done something he’s being framed for.
Miss Scarlet season 6 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8/7c on PBS.
