As we get close to the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, we knew that some secrets would have to come out. For Julia and Henry, it was all about everything Julia had done to survive in the past, and all of that is something that Henry has had to forgive.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 9.

As Henry saw Julia at the tynchal at Braemar Castle, it was clear that a few big reveals would happen. He’d learn that Julia married Simon Fraser, and that Simon believes Julia’s son with Henry is his own. That means a lot of questions for Henry, which fortunately, Brian was able to explain to him.

Henry would always forgive Julia in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 9

There was never a doubt in my mind that Henry would forgive Julia for simply acting in a way to survive. It’s not like Julia had ever given her heart to Simon. She didn’t marry this man just because she wanted to move up in the world. She didn’t even want to marry him in the first place, but it was forced upon her as Simon believed that William would become a king.

Considering the world that they are in, of course, Henry would understand that. Yes, he would need it explaining to him first so that he could understand the events that happened, but he would always forgive Julia. In a way, there is nothing to actually forgive, because Julia was put in an awful situation.

Despite being a man of the early 20th century, he is one ahead of his time. He understands that women have it worse, and maybe part of that is him being a solicitor in the 1920s. Maybe he’s seen some of the heartache that women have had to go through, or some of the bad that’s been done to them. We don’t know what type of solicitor he is or what field he works in.

Even without that, he’s always listened to Julia’s thoughts and advice. She is his soul and his rock, and after fearing that she was gone, he just wanted her back in his life.

A conversation still needs to happen in Blood of My Blood season 2

I don’t think we’ll get a chance to see a conversation between Julia and Henry in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 10. This finale episode is sure to be packed with how the two can escape together, as I can’t see any other way for this season to end.

That means Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 will need to have a deeper conversation about everything that has happened, and yes, as we’ve shared before at ClaireandJamie.com, Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is officially happening and production is underway right now. It allows for the couple to look back at the events of the last year or so, as that’s probably how long the first season has taken.

This could bring up some anger from Henry, as he realizes just what Julia had to do with Simon. I don’t think that anger will be aimed at Julia, though. I’m sure it’s going to be aimed at Simon and even himself, as he realizes just what Julia went through, especially during the birth of their son.

Likewise, Julia will need to learn everything Henry did in his grief. I don’t think she’ll hate him for it, and I fully expect her to forgive his actions, but these secrets need to come out. There shouldn’t be secrets in a marriage.

For now, we’ll have to wait a little while to see just what happens to Henry and Julia at the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. It will air on Friday, Oct. 10.
