Julia just had a chance to escape, but she lost it all by her lie in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. However, while it seems like she could end up with a little more freedom, she’ll likely end up even more of a prisoner.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 5.

In Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 5, Julia and Brian were getting ready to leave Castle Leathers. Despite knowing he’d get a beating, he knew it was worth it to get Julia out of the place. However, he changed his mind when he learned that the baby she’s carrying is Simon’s child.

Of course, we know otherwise. As claireandjamie.com has previously discussed, Julia took the action she needed to for the safety of herself and her child. However, that lie has a way to bite her, and it meant that Brian couldn’t get her out of the castle.

Simon clearly cares about his bloodline in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

During the episode, Simon had Maisri come to Castle Leathers to do a reading. He needed to know what is in store for this child, and Maisri shared that the child is a boy and will be king. Whether she meant it or not is another thing. Simon believes it, and that means he cares.

You see, he doesn’t really care about his bloodline, per se. He cares about what will happen and what it means for his bloodline. He’s a narcissist, and he wants to see his own kin on the throne. So, he’s going to do whatever it takes to make sure this baby is born healthy and accomplishes this prophecy.

This is bad news for Julia, though. While she’s relieved of her duties and will be waited on by Davina, it doesn’t mean she has freedom.

Julia is sure to find herself more of a prisoner

Simon is not going to want to take his eyes off Julia. There are chances that she’ll be contained to just her room—or maybe another, more suitable room in the castle. She may be allowed out to eat, but it’s highly likely that Simon won’t want her going anywhere in case she hurts herself or in case someone else hurts her.

While Simon probably doesn’t think she’ll try to run now, he won’t want to risk that. He also won’t want to risk that someone else finds out about this child in case they want to hurt him.

So, now Julia is even more of a prisoner. It’s going to be much harder for Henry to find her in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood airs on Fridays on STARZ.
