It may have taken time, but you know what the saying is. It’s better late than never! And we can certainly feel that with The Buccaneers.
I was starting to worry about the period drama, but Apple TV+ has given us some great news. The Buccaneers season 3 is officially going to happen, and that means we get to see the fallout from that shocking season 2 finale.

The Buccaneers season 3 has a potential new villain
Deadline shared the news of The Buccaneers season 3 renewal, and it came with a few teases of what to expect. The biggest is about the potential new villain of the story. After all, every season needs a villain, and up to this point, Theo and his mom have been the biggest contenders in that.
Well, The Buccaneers season 2 finale hinted that there could be a much bigger villain out there. Theo has a half-brother, and that half-brother is coming to town to be the new Duke now that Theo has abdicated. Now everyone is going to be up in arms, as Theo has no idea that he even has a brother, or that Nan is pregnant with his child.
This half-brother, Kit, is being teased as a bit of a psychopath, it seems, which could mean that he looks to change everything. Is it possible that he’s not the villain the show is making him out to be, though? Could he just be misunderstood or angry at the situation that he found himself in due to his dad and who his mom is?

When could The Buccaneers season 3 premiere on Apple TV+?
I wouldn’t expect the third season to arrive any time soon. In fact, with a renewal this late into the year, I would expect the show to spend the whole of 2026 in production and then post-production. That would mean we’re likely to not see The Buccaneers season 3 until mid-2027 at the earliest.
This is an annoying wait, but it would match the wait we’ve had between the first two seasons. The series originally premiered in 2023, and we had to wait until 2025 for season 2. More and more streaming shows are taking two years to get through production and post-production, so 2027 makes a lot of sense, even if it is an annoying wait for us.
