Nan makes a threat she won’t follow through with in The Buccaneers

It all picks up two weeks after the events of The Buccaneers season 2, episode 7. Guy is trying to talk to Nan, but she isn’t interested in that. Instead, she’s focused on what she needs to do next. Theo wants Nan gone, and he decides that the end of season ball is the perfect time to announce that.

Well, Nan has another plan up her sleeve. Yes, she will make a big announcement at the ball, but it’s not going to be about her leaving. Lizzy has found out that Nan knows about her and Theo, and now Nan has that card to play. She tells Theo that she will tell everyone about him and Lizzy, or she gets to stay at Tintagel and continue her work to help women.

Theo is shocked that Nan would even consider exposing Lizzy, and so are we a little. That is until we realize that Nan had no intention of doing such a thing. However, someone does leak it to the papers. Lizzy’s name isn’t mentioned, but the papers share that someone close to Nan is the one having the affair.

Hector offers to protect Lizzy in The Buccaneers season 2 finale

Of course, Conchita, Jinny, and Mabel are shocked about the papers, trying to figure out what’s going on. It’s then that they realize Lizzy was involved with Theo, and that does lead to some anger, especially from Jinny and Conchita. As two married women, that’s not too surprising, because they will be able to empathize with Nan.

In the end, Conchita and Jinny decide to protect Lizzy, but that’s not before Hector comes to visit and offer his hand in marriage again. He would like to protect Lizzy from the potential scandal, and it will also help him in politics to have a wife by his side.

At the ball, Lizzy decides that she will accept Hector’s proposal. This is when Hector’s dad works it all out. Hector leaked the story to the press, but while Hector has the girl, can he live with the shame?

Well, he may not even end up with the girl! Theo has his own plan.

Side bar: Conchita is struggling with business now that the family name means so little. However, Mabel has a suggestion to help, which involves Mabel finding the men and women who are gay so that Conchita can set up introductions.

Theo makes a decision that affects everyone

It turns out that Nan is expecting Theo’s baby. She knows it’s Theo’s because of the timing of the pregnancy. It had to have happened while she and Theo were on their honeymoon tour. Patty makes it clear that she will protect Nan so that she isn’t separated from her baby, and she encourages Nan to make that the big announcement.

Theo has other plans, though. He had worked with his mom to figure out a new plan, because he wants to divorce Nan and be with the woman he loves, Lizzy. And so, he announces that he is renouncing his title of Duke of Tintagel, making Nan no longer the Duchess. With that, they can divorce.

It shocks everyone, but none other than Nan. She rushes out of the room, with Lizzy and the others chasing after her. Only Lizzy manages to catch up to Nan, making it clear that Nan can now be with Guy. After all, he and Paloma are supposed to be working out an annulment—although it doesn’t look like Paloma wants that now.

Nan drops the bombshell that she’s pregnant, but now she can’t tell anyone. She can’t allow Theo’s mom to find out, because otherwise, Theo’s mom will take the child and raise it as the Duke or Duchess of Tintagel. She now gets to be free and happy with her baby, and she ends the episode telling Lizzy to keep this secret from Theo and then runs off.

What will Lizzy do? Can she keep such a secret? That may not be easy with who will take over the dukedom right now. It turns out that Theo has a secret half-brother, and that’s who Blanche wrote to during the episode. Of course, Hector’s dad doesn’t think that bringing this man, Kitt, into the place is a good idea and it means Theo will learn his dad is a cheat, but it doesn’t matter. There needs to be a duke, even if it is someone who sounds to be a dangerous man.
