The Couple Next Door put the relationships of two couples on the line. It looked like there was no saving Evie and Pete’s relationship, so what happened between them in the end?

The six and final episode of the season answered the majority of our questions. There were still some storylines in the air, but we got to see how the story played out for the two main couples of the show.
Evie called Danny to her family’s cabin, and Becka ended up going there with Danny. Pete found out where Evie was via Evie’s parents and went to deal with the situation. He planned on dealing things in a more permanent way, killing Danny for taking his wife.
Pete made it clear he wanted Evie back in The Couple Next Door
In the previous episode, it looked like Pete was done with his marriage. He couldn’t stand to raise Danny’s baby, and he gave Evie an ultimatum. He then went to meet his colleague Sophie and kissed her. She ended up stopping them from going any further because she knew that Pete was with Evie. I already liked Sophie, but I liked her much more after that.
After a night of drinking on his own, Pete decided that he wanted Evie. At least, that’s what it seems once he gets to the cabin. He told Evie just how much he loved her while they were in the woods. There is nobody like her, and he’ll love nobody after her.
Evie doesn’t love Pete anymore
Then came the blow. Evie shared that she “loved” Pete. It was all in the past tense. She didn’t love him anymore.
However, when Pete somehow ends up shot in the stomach, Evie seems to change. She’s terrified that Pete is dead, and it’s almost like that moment snaps her out of the mental state she has been in since miscarrying.
It’s not clear if there is hope for Evie and Pete at the end of The Couple Next Door, though. Pete is taken away in an ambulance and Evie is loaded into a police car. Can you come back from something like that? I couldn’t!
