Things are not looking good for Eliza and Blake on Miss Scarlet season 6. After an incident that involved his daughter going missing, Blake took his anger out on Eliza and decided to break things off with her.
Is this it for the couple? Is there any chance that the two can end up back together after Blake effectively blamed Eliza for Sophia’s decision to go to the British Museum? Only time will tell.
Why did Blake break up with Eliza on Miss Scarlet?
The decision to end the relationship stemmed from an incident with Sophia. Earlier in the episode, Eliza had lost track of time, leading to Sophia not getting home on time. Blake knew that Sophia had been with Eliza earlier in the day, so that was the first place he went. Sure enough, she was safe, reading a book.
However, later in the episode, she went missing again. This time, she was coming home from school, and it happened shortly after Dylan Cooper had threatened Sophia’s safety, knowing that it would be a way to get to Inspector Blake. With that on his mind, he feared the worst, and it was only natural that he would be both angry and relieved when he found out that she had simply taken herself for a trip to the British Museum.
That idea came from Eliza sharing that she once bunked off school to go to the museum. However, Sophia doesn’t know the streets of London as well as Eliza did, and she ended up getting lost. Fortunately, Ivy found her and got her back home.
Hearing all of this, Blake effectively blamed Eliza for everything. Had Eliza not put the idea in Sophia’s mind, Sophia wouldn’t have done to the museum. Of course, it’s not her fault, but Blake was worried about his daughter considering the previous threat.
Can Blake and Eliza get through this on Miss Scarlet?
What are the chances of the two making up after these events? This really is all on Blake. He’s the one who needs to realize that Eliza had nothing to do with Sophia going missing, and he needs to apologize for his words. Then Eliza will need to accept that.
Eliza will probably understand Blake’s fear and anger, so she’d likely forgive him, but there are other issues in their relationship. Throughout Miss Scarlet season 6 episode 4, Blake was annoyed that Eliza kept secrets from him. He couldn’t understand that she was protecting her clients’ confidentiality, and that means keeping part of her work from Blake. She doesn’t intentionally lie to hurt him, but it does mean making up reasons for going away when it comes to her clients.
The two will need to accept that this is part of their jobs. Eliza seems to get it, but not Blake all that much, and that’s likely because he’s used to being the one to keep the secrets. Now he knows what it’s like!
