When it comes to Outlander, there are always plenty of theories doing the rounds. Some of these theories work out, while others are just a lot of fun.

Since the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood and the release of the Outlander season 8 promotional teaser, there are certainly some wild fan theories out there. It’s fun to speculate, and I don’t want to trump on the idea of coming up with the theories, but there are some that are wild and have already been debunked.

And they’re not just debunked by Diana Gabaldon. Matt B. Roberts has already said that Outlander season 8 is already filmed, and the trajectory of the story wasn’t affected by Outlander: Blood of My Blood. So, let’s get into the three craziest theories for Outlander after the prequel series.

Claire’s brother or father turns up at Fraser’s Ridge in Outlander season 8

There’s a voice at the end of the teaser for Outlander season 8, saying “Mrs. Fraser,” and immediately, some fans have jumped to the idea that Claire’s father or brother have shown up. After all, Claire says, “it’s impossible.”

However, she seems to immediately recognize whoever is coming toward her, and she wouldn’t recognize either her father or brother. She doesn’t even know she has a brother, and she believes her parents to be dead.

At claireandjamie.com, we've already theorized that the clip in the Outlander season 8 trailer has been manipulated. It’s Brianna and Roger coming back to Fraser’s Ridge in the clip, and that the voice saying “Mrs. Fraser” is more likely to be someone like Lord John Grey.

Baby William is Willie Fraser in Outlander

Next up is the fan theory that William Beauchamp is going to be Willie Fraser. The theory is that Brian and Ellen adopt this young baby in the past, making it their first child.

First of all, this theory can be debunked by the fact that in the Outlander story, Ellen and Brian only came out of hiding when Ellen was visibly pregnant to prevent the MacKenzies from separating them. This made it clear that the marriage was consummated and legitimate.

Plus, Julia and Henry aren’t just going to give up their child. Henry has fought hard to get back to his wife and child, and now he pushes them through the stones at the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1. We know the family can’t go back to the 1920s, so when are they now? It’s not with William becoming Willie Fraser.

Julia and Henry’s son is Bonnie Prince Charlie

There is one crazy fan theory that I spotted, but it’s not one of the most popular, because I think it’s clear that this just can’t happen. That theory? That Julia and Henry’s son becomes Bonnie Prince Charlie in Outlander season 2.

Well, for one, that’s just impossible. We know that Bonnie Prince Charlie is the son of James Francis Edward Stuart, also known as The Old Pretender. On top of that, he was born in Rome in 1720, and we’re still in 1715. There is no way someone of the notoriety of Bonnie Prince Charlie could end up being someone else.

However, many are trying to connect to Maisri’s prophecy, and that’s where the failure is. You see, the prophecy about the Lovat line cannot connect to William because he isn’t actually the son of Simon Fraser.

Theories are fun, but sometimes, they’re just wild and can’t quite work out. What we do know is that Outlander season 8 isn’t being affected by Outlander: Blood of My Blood, and it definitely doesn’t follow much in the Outlander books, so it’s best to just keep everything separated.
