The latest Outlander season 8 teaser trailer is packed with warnings. As Jamie tells Claire that Frank’s book says that “James Fraser will die” in the war that is coming to the backcountry, there is a coffin that stands out. This tells us a death is coming, but it’s not Jamie’s.

There is a death in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood that we would love to see skipped over. However, we’ve mentioned it time and time again at claireandjamie.com that we need to prepare for this death. There are many signs that it will happen, and the coffin in the Outlander season 8 teaser is another.

The coffin is too small for an adult in the Outlander season 8 teaser

Take a look at the coffin carefully in the trailer. Pause it around the 1-minute, 43-second mark, and you’ll see that Jamie is struggling with his grief as he looks at this coffin that is way too small for an adult. Jamie doesn’t grieve too hard when it comes to fallen man in battle, as war brings death. However, he grieves hard when it is someone close to him.

While Written in My Own Heart’s Blood and Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone have a few deaths, there is one that fits the coffin, and it’s one that we have been preparing for at claireandjamie.com. Not only did the first teaser warn us that it would happen, but a certain image just released made it clear that we need to be ready.

This coffin is for Henri-Christian. Yes, that’s Fergus and Marsali’s younger son, who dies when there’s a fire at the printshop. While the death happens in Philadelphia in the books, it’s possible that it’s going to happen closer to Fraser’s Ridge in the TV show, allowing for Jamie to build a coffin for his deceased grandson — because we all know that is something Jamie would do.

The Outlander season 8 gives us a tease of Fergus and Marsali

Since finding out that Fergus and Marsali would be back for Outlander season 8, we prepared for the worst. While they were gone and living their lives, we could imagine everything happy for them. However, this is a huge storyline, and there’s a look at their lives now that they have moved from Fraser’s Ridge.

The teaser shows Fergus and Marsali together in a town, but I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be Wilmington or not. The two look happy, though, content in the life that they have built, which is so good to see considering the difficult arc Fergus had on Outlander season 6. That’s all going to come crashing down, as the teaser also highlights the fire that we’re sure will bring the death we’re not ready for.

Outlander season 8 premieres on Friday, March 6 on STARZ.
