Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 123 breakdown
Just the Outlander chapter
The chapter starts with Mrs. Bell writing to Claire. Claire wanted to know if the Bells still have the printing press, and they do. It’s been kept well, but Mrs. Bell has some warnings. North Carolina is not a good place for printers right now. The idea of starting up a printing press is a dangerous one. Is it a good idea for them?
The second letter is from John to Hal. John and Dottie had been on the hunt for Ben’s widow. Well, they’ve found an Amaranthus Cowden, who is said to be Ben’s widow. It seems like she already knows about Ben’s death as she’s bought the right clothing for a widow. It also turns out that she may have a child, who may be Ben’s child.
The plot certainly thickens here. John has his doubts. When he finds out that Amaranthus is on her way to Savannah, he decides to head there. Dottie wants to go, and it’s clear she won’t be persuaded not to, so John promises to keep her safe.
The third letter is for Hal from General Clinton. There are orders to head to Savannah.
