Who is returning in Outlander Season 7?
We know the Frasers and MacKenzies are back, but there will be more returning faces in Outlander Season 7. Take a look at the recently confirmed returns.
Get ready for some blasts from the past in Outlander Season 7. Of course, we knew certain characters were going to be back. There’s no way to have a series without the Frasers and MacKenzies. We also know Young Ian is coming back.
Just recently, we found out there would be a few other returning faces. This was after David Berry confirmed Lord John Grey would be back. The show has confirmed six returning faces to the series.
Graham McTavish, Lotte Verbeek, and Andrew Whipp
There are three interesting returns. We’ll get to see Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzies, Lotte Verbeek as Geillis Duncan, and Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser return.
All three of these characters are dead. Brian hasn’t been seen since the first season, Geillis was last in the third season, and Dougal was in the second season—although McTavish did return in Season 5 to play Dougal’s son Buck.
So, how can the three return? We can look at the books for this, and it looks like we’re getting some of the storylines from Written In My Own Heart’s Blood for this storyline to happen. Just a hint: it’ll involve Roger and Buck.
McTavish isn’t playing Buck this time. Diarmaid Murtagh will play that role.
Steven Cree, Nell Hudson, and Layla Burns in Outlander Season 7
We’re also heading to Lallybroch, which isn’t that much of a spoiler. If you follow filming locations, you’ll know that the show has been filming at Midhope Castle a few times this summer. There’s also been some footage of Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian in Scotland.
So, it shouldn’t be too surprising to find out that Steven Cree will return as Ian Murray. Nell Hudson and Layla Burns will return as Laoghaire MacKenzie McKimmie and Joan McKimmie respectively. All three were last seen in Season 4, although there was a plan to bring Cree back in Season 5 but his beard for A Discovery of Witches caused a problem.
We’ll get to see Jenny Murray again, but Laura Donnelly isn’t playing the role. Kristin Atherton will take on the role for Outlander Season 7.
