Lord John Grey is definitely in Outlander Season 7
Hoping to see more of Lord John Grey in Outlander Season 7? There’s some excellent news. The character is definitely coming back.
The last we saw of Lord John Grey, he learned that Jamie was fighting on the opposite side in the coming war. Grey was only in one episode of Outlander Season 6, although the initial plan was two episodes. The second episode was cut due to the season being cut short. The good news is Berry can return for the next season.
During NYCC 2022, David Berry was there with fellow Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Duncan Lacroix. The author of the series, Diana Gabaldon, was also there to share some bits and pieces, but it was Berry who had the answers we needed for his character.
Lord John Grey is in Outlander Season 7
We got some great news with the confirmation that Grey is definitely going to be in the season. However, Berry didn’t share the number of episodes or tease any of the storylines to come. It’s not clear which parts of John’s story in An Echo in the Bone is going to be used—if any of it at all.
John’s story is focused on figuring out what Percy Beauchamp wants with Fergus Fraser. He also wants to know what’s going on with Richardson, who has sent William on a somewhat dangerous mission.
Berry shared that John had to return to the series but for Jamie’s sake. Well, not really Jamie himself, but for the sake of the friendship between John and Jamie. That friendship has been weakened after the big reveal in Season 6. John is hurt that Jamie has changed sides, but he’s even more hurt by the secrets and lies that led to that. John knows Jamie is holding something back, and he’s hurt that Jamie doesn’t trust him. It’s very similar to the way Murtagh felt in the second season when Jamie finally told him the truth about Claire.
Does that mean John could learn the truth about time travel in Outlander Season 7? That seems unlikely considering the book storyline, but you never know what the show’s writers will change when it comes to this.
