Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire waking from her sleep. Jamie’s side of the bed is empty, and that’s because he is sitting alone in the dark.

Jamie shares that he had a dream. He has seen Bree and Roger in the future, but it’s more than just a dream of what their future could be like. He talks about the manse in Inverness and even describes Fiona. There is also a mention of a telephone. Claire realizes that Jamie is seeing the future in his dreams.

I think this is rather important about Jamie’s abilities. While he can’t travel through the stones, he is able to see what the future is actually like. This isn’t the first time he’s done this, either. He’s shared before how he’s dreamed of being in the future with Claire surrounded by electric lights. Bree has also done something similar, coming through a psychic in her dreams to see her parents in the past.

I love the telephone moment. Jemmy wants to use the phone to call granddad. It’s almost like Jemmy is the one that’s helped bring Jamie to this point. He wants to communicate with Jamie, and so that’s what has happened.

At least we know the MacKenzies are in the future safe and sound.
