Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
There is a lot of foreshadowing in this post. One of those elements is Jamie’s ability to travel through his dreams to another time. Remember the ghost at the start? I’m sure this is all foreshadowing as to how that ghost was there.
Then there’s the foreshadowing of where the MacKenzies will go. You see, it’s only been a few days since Bree and Roger took the children through the stones. They should still be in America right now. The first port of call was to Joe Abernathy. That suggests that not only is Jamie traveling to the future, he’s seeing what’s still to come for Bree and Roger.
It could also be possible that the timelines aren’t traveling in sync with each other. We already know the MacKenzies traveled 202 years into the future, so is it possible that Jamie goes to different time periods in his dreams? Again, I think it’s all going to connect to Jamie and the ghost.
Adapting A Breath of Snow and Ashes chapter
I would love to see this play out in some way in the TV series. I want to see Jemmy want to use the phone to call Jamie, and I want to see Jamie see what the future is like. However, I’m not sure there’s going to be time for it.
If there isn’t time, just a quick mention would be nice. We’ve had this happen before. During Outlander Season 4, Jamie tells Claire that he dreamed about Brianna. It was clear from his descriptions that this wasn’t just a dream. He’d traveled to her in his sleep in some way. We could have something like that happen again here to make a note of Jamie’s abilities.
