Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with some quiet time between Brianna and Jemmy. He’s singing a Johnny Cash song and Bree finds out some of the other songs Roger has taught their son. I love that Jemmy is introduced to the 20th century through his parents, even if they had no intention of returning through the stones at this point.

The conversation moves on to ghosts. Jemmy has seen a ghost around Hector Cameron’s tomb. It turns out that it wasn’t a ghost, though. When Bree overhears a conversation about Duncan promising Mr. Buchanan gold and not delivering it, everything starts to come together. Bree decides to ask Duncan about it all.

It turns out the gold has gone missing. Duncan and Jocasta had nothing to do with it. They were going to use the gold to buy weapons. Well, that’s what he says. However, he’s a Loyalist and won’t buy guns for those fighting for liberty. It doesn’t really matter now that the gold is missing.

In between all of this, Bree sees Jemmy cross himself after talking about ghosts. It’s a Roman Catholic thing to do, and Bree can’t help but worry about what this could mean for Roger getting ordained. She hopes it goes through because her being a Catholic affects his future.

There’s something else for the future, though. Bree gets a wave of dizziness and sickness. She’s pregnant again.
