A man is placed in jail at the end of Outlander Season 6, Episode 5. Who could it be, and what does it mean for the Frasers?

Caution: There are spoilers from A Breath of Snow and Ashes in this post.

Outlander Season 6, Episode 5 brought us an intriguing end. Claire heard whistling in the distance. That whistling was of a song that nobody in the past should know. It’s why it caught Claire’s attention so much. However, she brushed it off as a song passing in the wind.

It’s then that we head to the jail cell where the whistling continues. Sure enough, Colonel Bogey March is the tune being whistled; something that was only composed in 1914. This makes it clear that the man in the jail cell isn’t from the 18th century.

The books will certainly tell us who this man in. For now, we’ll work through the theories. There are some who question if Stephen Bonnet is really dead considering his name did come up in the episode thanks to certain body parts on the show. However, Bonnet wouldn’t have known the song.

This person is a time traveler. Not only is he whistling a song from 1914, but he also has a gemstone. He got that from Flora MacDonald. It was never the necklace he wanted but the green emerald in her necklace. He wants to travel.

Who was the time traveler in A Breath of Snow and Ashes

We don’t know many time travelers in the series. There is one we know didn’t die at the end of Outlander Season 5. Wendigo Donner learned from Claire that he needed a gemstone. In the books, he does head to the Frasers for gemstones.

It’s not surprising that he’s turned back up in the series. He is the one in the jail cell, looking or gemstones to be able to get back to his own time.

In the books, he turns up whistling Yellow Submarine to get Bree’s attention. The use of the Colonel Bogey March was likely due to royalties, but the use still offers the same hint. Only a time traveler would know that song.
