Will Malva become Claire’s apprentice in Outlander?

Outlander Season 6 has introduced us to the Christies. Malva is certainly interested in healing. Will she become Claire’s new apprentice?

From the Outlander Season 6 premiere, it’s clear that Malva has an interest in Claire’s work. She’s fascinated by healing, and she makes that very known in the second episode.

There is a big problem, though. The men in her family aren’t all that interested. In fact, her father, Tom, views Claire’s healing as more of the devil’s work. Allan, her brother, commented that a female physician would be viewed as a witch to some.

Will Malva become Claire’s apprentice in Outlander?

During Outlander Season 5, we saw Marsali become Claire’s apprentice. The two formed an excellent bond, but it is short-lived. Marsali now has another baby, and this baby is going to need some extra attention. Henri-Christian is a dwarf, and it’s clear that Fergus isn’t happy about that.

Fergus was already struggling with shame. Now he’s going to struggle with grief as he realizes his baby boy isn’t the healthy baby he hoped for.

That rules Marsali out of being an apprentice anymore. Claire will need someone else to help her, and it looks like Malva is the perfect person. That is if her father and brother will let her. She will be expected to do the woman’s work in her household.

One thing we do know is that the Christies are trouble. They’re not your usual trouble for Claire and Jamie, though. When it comes to Malva, she finds herself in a very difficult position and while she’s manipulative at times, she is also a young girl of her time and trying to figure out a way to survive with everything that she’s going to face.

We need to see her form more of a bond with Claire, though. After all, it’s the bond they form that hurts the most when the full truth comes out.
