Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There’s this constant sense that something bad is going to happen. After all, while there have been some deaths and some major injuries, none of them were directly connected to Claire and Jamie. When it came to the battles in Dragonfly in Amber, we had to say goodbye to Rupert and it was a devastating moment.

It’s clear that it’s getting us ready for something happening to Roger. Brianna is worried and Claire is concerned. There’s a reason for all these fears.

The writing of it was done well. I think we all sense bad things are happening now and then, especially when it comes to the people we love. We still had a bit of hope at this point because we knew what had happened to Roger, though.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter was certainly used in Outlander Season 5, Episode 7, but it was adapted to suit the story that the series was telling. This chapter involved someone close to Claire and Jamie. We said goodbye to Murtagh. Claire and Brianna knew there was nothing to do to save Murtagh, and all they could do was say goodbye.

It was devastating, but I do think it added a bit more weight to the battle. Murtagh also got a proper goodbye with Jamie, which was something not really offered when it came to the books. The books didn’t develop Murtagh’s character the way the show did due to the different styles of writing and the way TV characters can come to life because of the actors. Giving Murtagh a good send-off in the show was essential.

Claire and Brianna do find out that Tryon is executing some of the Regulators. They and Jamie naturally get that sense of something bad happening.
