Outlander Season 5, Episode 7 was one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the series anyway. Here are the best moments out of all.

How are we feeling, Sassenachs? I think Outlander Season 5, Episode 7 is the most heartbreaking episode since Season 2’s “Faith.” And that episode stands out in the way the Season 1 finale stands out.

There was a lot going on. We got a surprise guest appearance, some heartbreaking moments, and a battle that felt like “Prestonpans.” Now it’s time to look back over the moments and pick out the five best.

I’ll admit that “best” doesn’t mean happiest in this occasion. After all, there’s a scene that shattered us but was beautifully acted.

5. Mentions of fathers

The beginning of the episode saw Roger and Jamie both think about their dads. They both thought for different reasons, but both were linked to death.

Roger worried about dying at the Battle of Alamance, unable to come back for Jemmy. He thought back to his memories of his father but knew Jemmy would have none based on age.

Meanwhile, Jamie thought of how he was now older than his dad. He and Claire talked of “taking stock.” We already got a mention of Brian Fraser earlier as Jamie thought of how his dad died. Now he thinks again how his dad would never be 50.

Both are beautiful moments, standing out for the men in the scenes.
