Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is a sense of impending doom in this chapter. It’s not often we get these quite moments, but Roger seems to have a sense of finality in this. I’m to sure it’s meant to be written this way, but even the first time I read it, I felt that sense of impending doom.

Up to this point, we’ve had that reminder of Roger’s ability to sing. We knew that this was foreshadowing of things to come, but this chapter now makes it all the more serious. We know it’s coming very soon.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

The chapter wasn’t used in Outlander Season 5. With it being all in Roger’s head, it simply couldn’t have worked for the show. These types of chapters can’t translate to a series very well. It’s hard to show what’s going on in the head of a character on the TV screen.

It was also an unnecessary chapter when it came to the overall story. While it does have that sense of impending doom, we didn’t really need that for the series. There was already a sense of that during the TV series here and there with seeing Roger singing a lot.

I didn’t mind skipping over this chapter. When it comes to a TV series, it’s important to focus on elements that are necessary for the overall story. There is no time to spend on some of the smaller moments unless they help specifically with character development. This just isn’t one of those chapters.
