Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There isn’t all that much in the way of foreshadowing in the chapter. I guess the real foreshadowing is the way that Frank will remain part of Claire and Jamie’s life together. He will always come up in some way, whether it’s through lessons Bree learned or a memory that Claire has.

Jamie will always feel like Frank casts a shadow, and he will remain an important part of Claire’s life. All that is only natural.

Other than that, there really isn’t all that much foreshadowing within the chapter. There is the plot development of the card game and things to come after that.

Adapting The Fiery Cross chapter

This chapter was partly used in the series. Every season has Claire and Jamie at odds with each other for a short time. Outlander Season 5, Episode 6 was that moment. And it was taken from the books, whether you like the idea of Claire keeping her ring from Frank or not.

As someone who has just recently separated, I don’t have my wedding ring on anymore. I don’t value it in the way that Claire does the one from Frank, but I do understand why Claire values hers. Frank was a huge part of her life and her first love. While he wronged her in various ways, he stood by her at the same time. If it wasn’t for him and his support, she probably wouldn’t have become a doctor.

So, I appreciated that this part of the chapter was left in the series. We needed to see that Frank was still there and that ring is still important to her. Frank won’t completely come between Jamie and Claire, but he will always be a ghost in their lives.
