Will Outlander Season 6 be the last?

Outlander fans certainly can’t get enough of the time-travel romance. We’re always eager for more. So, some might be asking will Outlander Season 6 be the last?

What we do know is Outlander Season 6 is definitely happening. Though it’s a shortened season due to the pandemic. STARZ has confirmed the season will be eight episodes and we can expect it in early 2022.

They didn’t confirm when exactly, but a tweet from Sam Heughan has us thinking we could be getting the new season in February. Fingers crossed!

While we’re all over the moon that Outlander Season 6 is happening, some are already thinking ahead. Will there be more seasons of Outlander?

The great news is that Outlander will not be done with Season 6! Our favorite show has already been renewed for Season 7. In fact, since the sixth season is shortened, four more episodes will be added to the seventh season to make up for it. That comes to a grand total of 16 episodes.

In the past, STARZ announced the renewal of the third and fourth seasons, then Seasons 5 and 6 at the same time. However, right now we only know that Season 7 is happening so far. But don’t worry! That doesn’t mean we aren’t getting an eighth season.

Like many production companies, STARZ probably wants to see how the filming and production process will look moving forward. The pandemic has definitely taken its toll on the filming industry and made production harder with safety precautions that have to be in place. That’s why Season 6 was shortened.

It isn’t a guarantee, but I’m pretty optimistic STARZ will renew Outlander for another season. The show is a smashing hit, the production company’s most popular show, and still has a loyal fan base to back it. I’m not nervous about the future of the show. We possibly have at least 10 seasons to look forward to since Diana Gabaldon has written 10 books.

Though whether there will be 10 seasons is a question for the writers. For example, in Season 5, they pulled forward two storylines that were in book 6—Stephen Bonnet’s death and the incident that happened to Claire in the season finale. They might get through material in less than 10 seasons.

But now I’m getting ahead of myself! What’s important to focus on right now is that Outlander Season 6 will not be the last. Outlander Season 7 is definitely happening, and fingers crossed we hear renewal news for an eighth season!
