Outlander Season 7 is officially happening!

Sassenachs around the world rejoice! There’s some excellent news about the future of the series. Outlander Season 7 is officially happening.

One of the biggest questions for what seems like an eternity is whether STARZ would renew the show past Season 6. It’s nerve-wracking not knowing what’s going on with our favorite shows.

While we’ve always had the buffer of the sixth season still to air, it’s not stopped the fear that the show would be surprisingly canceled. Well, there’s no need to worry about that right now.

Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin took to a video to announce that Outlander Season 7 is officially happening.

STARZ renews Outlander Season 7

It’s great news for fans of the series everywhere. Pre-production work on the season can start while filming continues on Season 6. This could help to keep the next droughtlander down considering the droughtlander we’ve had this time. (Not the production’s fault!)

The downside is that it’s just a one-season renewal at this time. The previous renewals have come in batches of two, with the third and fourth seasons picked up together and then the fifth and sixth seasons picked up together. We had hoped for Outlander Season 8 to be confirmed at the same time.

It’s better having Season 7 than nothing at all, but it would have been nice to have a little extra buffer before the end of the series. The pandemic may have made everyone rethink the two-season renewals for now. This doesn’t mean Season 7 is the last!

We have no idea when Outlander Season 7 will air. Only the pre-production would can get started now. It’s probably going to be 2023 at the earliest! Droughtlanders are long.
