Everything we know about Outlander Season 6 so far

Outlander Season 6 definitely happening. At the time of initially writing this, we don’t have much information to work with due to the coronavirus pandemic causing filming delays. However, we’re gathering what we do know so far.

Make sure to bookmark this post. As soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to update it. That includes the release date when we get it, any teaser trailers, and any new cast additions. It’s going to be a hub for all things Outlander Season 6.

Let’s dive into what we know so far.

Outlander Season 6 release date

We all know there isn’t a release date yet. Outlander Season 6 hasn’t even started filming yet, although it’s slated to return to filming sometime in January 2021. There isn’t a set date yet due to the pandemic.

It usually takes about a year to get through the filming and post-production work. I wouldn’t expect the Season 6 premiere to happen until early 2022 at the earliest.

I know there are a lot of people holding out hope for the end of 2021, but I just can’t see that happening with everything that’s going on right now. So, we’re looking at early 2022 for now. We’ll get more of an idea when we find out filming has definitely started.

Outlander Season 6 cast

There are some cast members we can most definitely expect to return. They are:

• Caitriona Balfe as Claire
• Sam Heughan as Jamie
• Sophie Skelton as Brianna
• Richard Rankin as Roger
• John Bell as Young Ian
• Lauren Lyle as Marsali
• César Domboy as Fergus

Rollo and Adso will also return. These two stole the show!

There may be a few familiar faces that return as guest stars throughout the season. We’re holding onto hope that Kyle Rees will return as John Quincy Myers considering the way his character has changed from the books. There’s also a chance that Chris Larkin will return as Richard Brown considering the way things were left at the end of Outlander Season 5.

The series tends to remain quiet about casting on the series. It helps to avoid too many spoilers getting out, but as filming starts, we’ll likely hear of a few new faces.

There are rumors that Alexander Vlahos will be in the sixth season. We don’t know who he will play, but he could be connected to two characters we know are turning up at some point.

Update: We know that Vlahos is definitely joining the series as Allan Christie. He’ll be joined by Mark Lewis Jones as Tom Christie and Jessica Reynolds as Malva Christie.

Outlander Season 6 trailer

There isn’t a trailer for now. We’re not expecting anything until closer to the time of the release.

We might get a small sneak peek once filming starts and the first scene has been through post-production. STARZ will want to offer some promotion for one of its top series.

A teaser trailer may come with the release date or even just before, getting fans excited about the release. Then there will be a trailer that will likely give us the premiere date for the season.

Outlander Season 6 synopsis

While there isn’t a synopsis, we can work out a little of what’s to come. There were clues at the end of Outlander Season 5.

Outlander Season 6 is mostly going to follow the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes. However, like previous seasons, some elements from other books may be used. Two of the biggest Book 6 storylines were used at the end of Outlander Season 5, so it will be interesting to see what could happen in Season 6.

One thing we know will happen is the Christie storyline. We won’t spoil it for those who haven’t read the book yet, but get ready for a lot of trouble.

Families will also continue to grow. The fifth season saw Marsali pregnant again, and if the story sticks to the books, Roger and Brianna will find out they’ve got another child on the way.
