How many seasons of Outlander can you watch?
Outlander is one of the strongest shows on STARZ. There’s only Power that beats it when it comes to live ratings on the channel, but we don’t get to know the full viewer ratings through the app itself.
If you caught the series on Netflix in the United States, you’ll only have three seasons at the time of writing this. However, there’s more to the story and you’ll need STARZ to keep watching.
Just how many seasons of Outlander is there? How many will there be? What can we expect from the future of the series.
Five seasons currently available
At the time of writing this, there are five seasons of the time-traveling series available to watch. The first three are available on Netflix, but all five seasons are available to binge-watch on STARZ. You can also get all five seasons on Digital and DVD.
If you get the DVD boxsets, there are various bonus features. The fourth and fifth seasons included Outlander Untold, which offers more stories that were filmed specifically as bonus features. They’re not your everyday deleted scenes.
Outlander Season 6 is happening
STARZ renewed Season 6 at the same time as Season 5. This meant the writing could happen right away. The initial plan was to start filming around May 2020.
Of course, the coronavirus pandemic put a spanner in the works. Filming couldn’t happen as planned.
While many other shows have started filming, our series still hasn’t. That’s mostly because this is a show that is difficult to film under COVID conditions. Plus, the area of Scotland the show films has been hit heavily by the pandemic.
Filming should start up around January 2021. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on that. Don’t expect Season 6 before 2022, though.
Will there be more seasons?
Our eyes are on the future of the series. As this is one of STARZ’s best shows, there is a good chance that it will be renewed. It would seem weird for the network to cancel it. Of course, stranger things have happened and there have been cases of “unrenewals” due to the pandemic.
That being said, STARZ continues to support the series. There is a good chance we’ll get Season 7.
It’s not like the show is running out of source material. Diana Gabaldon has eight books written and is working on the ninth. There are going to be 10 books in total. Could that mean 10 seasons of the series? We certainly hope so!

For now, there are five seasons of the series with the sixth definitely happening. We hope there will be many more to come.
