My #1 top moment from Outlander Season 5
Here’s why “Safe” became my #1 favorite moment from Outlander Season 5
There were some standout moments from Outlander Season 5. Choosing a favorite was never going to be easy, but there’s one moment that stands out from all the rest.
Recently, I shared my 20 favorite moments from the whole season. I touched on various storylines and characters, looking at why they stand out. In the end, there was only one that would be able to take the #1 spot.
It was all about Claire and Jamie at the end of the Outlander Season 5 finale. Why did “Safe” stand out for me?
It shows that connection between Jamie and Claire
There have been some complaints about how Claire and Jamie don’t seem to have the connection they used to have. I’ve not seen it that much. Well, I have, but I’ve understood it considering the time the two spent apart.

However, Outlander Season 5 brought them together. We got a chance to see them support each other, stand by each other, and have some beautiful moments together.
The ending to the season made it clear that these two are still each others’ worlds. Without one, there is no other. Jamie will do whatever he can for Claire and vice versa.
Up to this point, Claire has tried to hold herself together. She’s survived through disassociation, waiting for Jamie to come. After, she feared that her ordeal would break her, despite going through so much already. In the end, there was only Jamie who would be able to help.
A calm before the storm
It’s certainly not over for Claire. We know this, even without knowing what’s to come in the books. Trauma doesn’t just leave us, as we’ve seen from Jamie, Brianna, and Roger. This is just a calm before the storm.
Yet, Jamie is there. He’s ready to protect her, whether it’s physically with his body or through an emotional connection.
In this case, Jamie is able to connect to Claire physically, mentally, and emotionally. He listens and doesn’t judge. He holds her and never lets go. We see this deep connection between them, something that is needed at this moment.
Claire feels “safe.”
Claire could recoil at touch. She could fear someone else coming close to her, especially another man. In fact, there are many women who can’t be touched by their own partner after rape and assault. That’s not the case for Claire. She can only feel safe and comfortable wrapped in Jamie’s arms.
These two are meant to be.
