All eyes are on when Outlander Season 6 filming will begin. It’s hard to say at this point, but there is a potential season in mind.

Right now, all eyes are on when Outlander Season 6 filming will begin. The cast was supposed to be back at work in May 2020, but that’s not been possible. So, what are the plans?

There’s nothing the cast and crew can do right now. With the coronavirus pandemic, filming for all TV shows and movies has been put on hold. That includes Outlander Season 6, which was supposed to start filming in May.

Sam Heughan recently tweeted about a potential filming date. The producers are looking at bringing everyone back in the fall. Of course, this will depend on when Scotland lifts restrictions on filming.

There are also chances that some extra steps will need to be put in place for filming, such as no kissing. That’s just not possible for a show like Outlander. It wouldn’t be authentic to the characters, so that could push back filming further. It could depend on whether the restrictions are mandated or suggested.

What does this mean for the release? It takes around nine months to film the season and then it needs to go through post-production work. That means we’re possibly looking at fall 2021 or winter 2022 for the new season to air instead of spring or summer 2021 as original predictions would have been.

It’s going to be a long Droughtlander, but the cast and crew’s healths needs to be put first. There’s no way we want anyone getting sick!

The good news is that work is ongoing right now. Anything that can be done virtually is happening that way, which means table reads would be able to happen. The cast will be ready for whenever Outlander Season 6 filming can start.
