Jamie survived the snake bite and infection that followed on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9. The episode left us with some other burning questions, though.
We watched as the Frasers and MacKenzies worked together to make sure Jamie survived the snake bite. Now it’s time to look ahead at the final three episodes of the season. It’s time to ask the big questions after Outlander Season 5, Episode 9.
I try to ask these questions before I’ve watched the promo for the next episode. That’s not always easy, and right now, I do have the synopsis and promo for Episode 10 on my mind.
These questions are also based on the show only. While we could look at book storylines to come, I want to make this friendly for those who don’t read the books for whatever reason; those who don’t want to be spoiled by the storyline that has been written. Plus, there are storylines that don’t quite follow the book anyway, which makes things exciting.
These are my five big questions after Outlander Season 5, Episode 9.
5. Can Roger kill Stephen Bonnet?
Roger mentioned in the woods that he didn’t think he’d be able to kill Stephen Bonnet. I loved the scene, and thought it was perfect for the show version of the character that we have. Deep down, he is a pacifist.
However, it’s clear from Episode 10 that he wants to kill Bonnet. Will he be able to do it? This isn’t about skill but about how he feels. When it comes to taking a man’s life will he be able to go through with it?
4. How long will it take for Marsali to get pregnant again?
Marsali has just given birth of young Felicite. We know that there’s another child to come (okay, I know I said no book spoilers but I’ll say no more on who the child is). Marsali and Fergus waste no time in having more children, so how long will it be before she’s pregnant again?
Could this also allow Young Ian to share his story? He needs to talk to someone, and his bond with Marsali is strong. It would make sense to share his story with her first.
3. Is this the turning point for Roger and Jamie’s bond?
Speaking of bonds, one that has changed over time is that between Roger and Jamie. Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 gave a bigger chance for the bond to change. We saw it by the end of the episode as well as during the scene in the woods.
Is this a turning point? Will the two now have only respect for each other? It really is about time!
2. Will we see more of Fergus after this?
One thing I’ve been disappointed about throughout Outlander Season 5 is the lack of Fergus Fraser. We’ve had plenty of Marsali but none of our favorite Frenchman. The episode proved that we need him and that he remains loyal to his adopted parents. So, is this a turning point?
If we don’t get more of Fergus in the next three episodes, we certainly need more during the next season. This is one of the problems with the cast growing; some characters end up with less screen time. I just hope the show can find the right balance.
1. Is Engineer Brianna here to stay?
Roger, Claire, and Brianna all played their parts to save Jamie’s life and leg. Engineer Brianna was the one to save the day at the very end with her invention of the syringe using the snake fang. This is a side of Brianna we’ve been waiting to see, and now it finally looks like it’s happening.
Will Engineer Brianna be here to stay? I certainly hope so!
