4. Vida

When it comes to the Latinx community, you’ll usually find that the characters are pushed into stereotypes. That’s not the case for Vida, offering a raw and real look at the lives of Latina women going through struggles.

It all starts with two estranged sisters returning to the home they haven’t been to in years. Their mother has died, and they need to figure out what to do with her belongings and the apartment and bar that she owned. The problem is they’re not the only ones with a share in the business. They soon learn their mother was a lesbian and left a third of everything to her wife.

With secrets out, the two have to work through their feelings. They need to figure out what they’re meant to do as they try to protect the people in the building but also make money.

There are two seasons to watch right now. A third and final season will air in May.

3. Howards End

Next up is a show that you can binge-watch today in full. It’s a miniseries, based on the novel of the same name. It focuses on the social expectations of the early 20th century, along with the changing views and fights for women.

Hayley Atwell stars as Margaret Schlegel ad Philippa Coulthard stars as her sister Helen. Both are modern women for their time, with independent and unorthodox lives, despite their aunt’s attempts to meddle. Margaret finds herself drawn to newly-widowed Henry Wilcox (Matthew Macfadyen), and their passion may cause some social uproar.
