There’s a huge moment in the Outlander Season 5, Episode 6 promo that has people concerned. Why does Jamie want to take Frank’s ring from Claire?
Fans are horrified that it looks like Claire and Jamie are on the rocks again in Outlander Season 5, Episode 6. After promising not to take Frank away from her, it looks like he’s demanding her ring. There’s got to be a bigger story to this, right?
Of course, we can turn to “The Fiery Cross” for help with this. If you don’t want the book spoilers, I’d look away now. Just know that there is a reason for Jamie to ask for Frank’s ring. What I will also say is that there’s a huge storyline around this and I’m not sure how much of it the writers will have been able to keep in.
Jamie wants to play against Phillip Wylie in a game of cards. He needs to use Claire’s rings to bet, and the gold ring is worth more. Claire makes it clear that he might as well have both.
The good news is that Jamie wins the cards. He doesn’t know for certain that he will, but he is a good card player and has faith that he’ll win. So, it all ends on a happy note.
This is where there’s a bigger story. This storyline involves an autopsy, Phillip Wylie being tied up in the stables, and Stephen Bonnet. It all happens as celebrations for Jocasta and Duncan Innes’s wedding takes place. Of course, it’s possible that some of this is going to be cut.
One thing I think will be cut is the autopsy. We’ve seen Claire do the autopsy back at Fraser’s Ridge. It would be odd to add that storyline in for the series and then keep an autopsy in later. During the Inside the World for the episode, the showrunners said that they wouldn’t be able to do the autopsy in the same way, so it suggests that there’s no autopsy in Outlander Season 5, Episode 6.
Stephen Bonnet could still show up. We know that Bonnet is around Wilmington. He’s a serious threat. However, Roger MacKenzie isn’t at the wedding. He’s dealing with a situation at the Ridge with Brianna. It’s possible that Bonnet could face off against just Jamie and Claire instead or that he could be cut out of this storyline altogether with just the focus on the card game and the potential of losing Claire’s rings.
Just know that all should be well between Claire and Jamie by the end of Outlander Season 5, Episode 6.
