3 best Claire moments on Outlander Season 5, Episode 5
Claire had a moment with Roger and experienced flashbacks of a patient in 1960s Boston. Here are my three favorite parts from Outlander Season 5, Episode 5.
We witnessed some flashbacks of Claire’s time in 1968 before heading back to Jamie. Her realization of thinking about that time was extremely important for her and Jamie’s story and makes up part of this list of best Claire moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 5.
There were some other strong moments. She acted as a surgeon once more and had a chance to help Roger make a decision for him and his family. It’s time to look back at the episode, as I share why three specific moments were my favorite Claire ones from the episode, titled “Perpetual Adoration.”
3. Finding penicillin
My first favorite moment was at the beginning of the episode. Claire realized that she’d finally figured out how to make penicillin. It’s an exciting moment, and she can’t help but say “eureka!” Of course, Marsali had no idea what that meant.
Explaining it didn’t really matter. This is a huge step for Claire and the safety of her family. Now she has the chance to treat patients in ways that they never could consider in the 18th century. However, it is also dangerous considering the superstitions of the time.
2. Sharing her lack of regrets for her 20-year decision
When speaking to Roger, Claire makes it clear that she doesn’t regret allowing Brianna to believe that Frank was her father. While she wishes that things could have been slightly different by being with Jamie, she knows that despite how Brianna reacted when she learned the truth, finding out then was best.
And Claire explains it in a way that Roger could understand. Brianna was always too young to understand the truth. This wasn’t a case of Claire having an affair. It involved time travel, Highland warriors, and magic. How could Brianna seriously understand something like that as a child? Claire’s decisions weren’t just for her but for Brianna.
1. Thinking of Graham Menzies
Throughout the episode, we got a flashback to Claire treating Graham Menzies. There was a slight change to the book, but I don’t believe that matters. It wasn’t actually about the medical issues but about the reason Claire was thinking about Mr. Menzies.
She had realized that it was this one stranger who led to Claire finding Jamie again. Had it not been for Graham, she would never had left Boston for London for a short leave of absence. She wouldn’t have met Roger and she would certainly have never found out that Jamie had been alive this whole time. It all came back to Claire and Jamie.
