We’re into the second third of Outlander Season 5. Here’s your breakdown of the Outlander Season 5, Episode 5 promo to see what to expect.

We’re a third through Outlander Season 5. So far, we’ve watched Jamie and Claire build the militia, start creating penicillin, and find a home for a newborn. It’s time to move forward with various parts of “The Fiery Cross,” skipping over the disbanding of the militia part. The promo for Outlander Season 5, Episode 5 is here, and it’s time for the breakdown.

I’ve already looked at the synopsis, but that doesn’t tell us all that much. It gives us an idea of Jamie’s story, but what about the others? It’s time to find out more about what Claire and Roger will do, who have made it back to Fraser’s Ridge.

Before we get into the promo breakdown, you’ll want to be aware that we get into teasery elements of the story. Here’s the promo for Outlander Season 5, Episode 5 so you can easily see what we’re talking about.

5. Roger learns about Bonnet

The promo kicks off with Roger finding a gem and asking if it’s Bonnet’s. It looks like he’s in the cabin, which suggests that he’s talking to Brianna. That would make sense since Bree would keep the gem in the cabin in secret.

I have a lot of questions based on this. Why does Bree still have the gem? Was she planning on giving it to Jemmy or using it to go through the stones? And what about Roger figuring out that it was Bonnet’s? Does he know that Bonnet is alive or is he worried that Bree is thinking about her rapist?

4. Marsali needs to accept death can happen

Marsali has certainly taken being Claire’s apprentice in her stride. She’s worked on creating penicillin by the looks of things, and she’s ready to help Claire with a surgery. However, she needs to accept one thing: this could mean death.

Surgery certainly comes with high risks. Even in the 20th century, there would be risks of death. I can say in the 21st century there are risks of death from some of the most routine surgeries. The risks are going to be much higher in the 18th century, and Marsali has to be ready.

3. Hillsborough may be losing money

The people of Hillsborough aren’t happy. It turns out Governor Tryon has some sort of unorthodox way of dealing with the rebellion. It looks like the Redcoats are staying in the town, eating the food, drinking the ale, and not paying a penny.

They’d probably argue that the Crown has demanded it. However, it’s going to cause problems for the innocent people of Hillsborough and could lead to more of them joining the Regulators. Someone needs to do something.

2. Jamie needs to deal with the Redcoats

Which brings me to the next point. Jamie seems to be the one that will do something. The people of Hillsborough will know that Jamie Fraser was the one working with the Redcoats when the Regulators were last around. One of the judges even said that he wished Claire was there.

They will rely on Jamie to help. He is walking between two fires. Well, three more like! After all, the people of Hillsborough aren’t his family but they’re not Regulators, either. They’re caught in the middle.

1. Claire will perform the tonsillectomy

It looks like Claire will perform the tonsillectomy, and it’s going to be Kezzie who has it done. This makes sense since Kezzie seems to be the one suffering the most. Claire noted that he had a fever and she would need to use antibiotics to heal him as well as immediately remove his tonsils. Jo’s tonsillitis isn’t as bad.

Will it go without a hitch? Is there going to be a death from her first surgery? I’m going with there will look to be a problem but Claire comes through in the end. And that’s without spoiling the book storyline.
