Outlander Season 5 promo: Jamie walks between two fires

STARZ released the 45-second promo for Jamie in Outlander Season 5. It’s a difficult season as he walks between two fires. Here’s a look at what to expect.

This season is not going to be easy for Jamie, but we already knew that with the ending to the fourth season. However, the latest promo for Outlander Season 5 shows a glimpse of the difficult conversations Jamie will have.

The 45-second individual promo video focuses on Jamie walking between two fires. He has to protect his family and the people on his land, but he also doesn’t want to hunt down his godfather. Yet, Governor Tryon isn’t going to let Jamie off all that easily. It still doesn’t sound like Tryon knows the relationship Jamie and Murtagh have, but Tryon certainly wonders whether Jamie is on the Regulator’s side. That’s not surprising since Jamie was a Jacobite officer.

And so, we end up with Tryon making it clear that Jamie needs to follow through with the oath made to Tryon and the Crown. It’s time to go after Murtagh.

There’s a beautiful scene from what’s likely to be the premiere that shows Jamie begging Murtagh to go. It sounds like Murtagh has been hanging around Fraser’s Ridge, but now it’s too dangerous. Murtagh needs to become harder to find as the militia is put together and Jamie has the British Army on his back.

With that comes a problem with the Regulators. They’re angry that Jamie is following orders from Tryon. Naturally, Jamie can’t just not follow the orders. He needs that land, not just for his family but for the tenants that he now has on it. But at the same time, Jamie doesn’t want to kill the Regulators. He understands their plight and wants to preserve as many lives as possible.

The first few episodes will likely focus on Jamie growing the militia, as he understands more of what the Regulators are willing to do. And they’re not afraid to act out of the law, with some sympathizing for them and others entirely against (and scared of) them. This is an exciting season to come.
