Outlander Book 9 is slated for release some time this year. Will that be the case for the international translations of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone?

With all the confusion of a potential release date for Outlander Book 9, thoughts about the translated versions came up. Will we get to see the international copies at the same time as the initial release?

It was a question raised by a fan when Diana Gabaldon shared where the mixup of the release date came from. No, the book does not have an official release date just yet.

When the book is released in English, there isn’t going to be a translated version into any language right away. The English-language version is usually the first to be released and the work on the translations doesn’t usually happen until the book is published. That means it takes at least an extra year for the translations to be approved and published.

At least, that’s according to Diana’s comment on her post in reply to the question. She also shared that there aren’t plans to release a Gaelic version, although that would be pretty cool! Hey, even a Scottish version like the Scottish version of The Gruffalo would be fun.

That all being said, there is one version that should be out at the same time as the English-language hardback. The audiobook will likely be out at the same time, as recording for that can happen as the publishers get to work with other elements of the release process after editing happens. We already know Davina Porter will do the audio for the ninth book, remaining consistent with other releases.

There have been multiple cover designs already for the books. Don’t expect to see the discarded versions of cover art. Even if Diana is allowed to share them, she says that she probably won’t as to avoid complaints/arguments.
