Anna Burnett will play Alicia Brown in Outlander Season 5. Get an idea of what to expect by looking into Burnett’s past work.

When Outlander announced Lionel and Richard Brown casting, they also announced the person who would play Alicia Brown. Anna Burnett has landed the role, but what do we know about the actress to get an idea of what to expect?

Most of you will know Anna from Ripper Street. She played Mathilda Reid, the daughter of Inspector Reid. Believed dead at the start of the series, Mathilda turned up later in the seasons, much to the surprise of her parents. This return certainly brought many troubles and a lot of drama.

However, one thing Ripper Street tells us is that Anna is used to playing a role in a period show. She can also act without speaking too much, using body language and facial expressions to get a point across. This is important in Outlander, both for her character and the show overall. There’s a lot of things unsaid in the series, but you know what the expressions mean.

Burnett has also done movie roles, including Darkest Hour, which is focused on Winston Churchill during the Second World War. And before Ripper Street, she played Susan in The Falling, a movie that starred Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams and Little Women‘s Florence Pugh. The Falling was a heartbreaking, twisted mystery with a lot of emotion to portray in a short time.

Most recently, you’ll see her in The Witcher. Anna appears in Episode 7 if you just want to see a glimpse of her acting skills now. You’ll be impressed and ready for her to appear in Outlander Season 5.

Anna is also prolific on Twitter, sharing her current work and political statements. She’ll fit right in with the cast!
